Meet the Twins
Twins Amanda and Luke Jennings are twin brother and sister who are living with their Aunt Linda. Luke is autistic and Amanda usually helps him through coping with life.
Their father is a neglectful man with a chip on his shoulder, and Amanda realized something was wrong as she turned 16 and went to the courthouse for the ceremony to get her drivers license. She realized her brother was 16 too, and it was then she understood that she was the favorite child and her special needs brother was forgotten. When she was given a high end car for her 17th birthday, she put 2 and 2 together and vowed that she would do anything and everything to help her brother with anything he needed. It was their birthday, not just her’s, why didn’t he get anything also?
She begins secretly talking to dad’s sister Linda, who slowly fills Amanda in on everything, and the two of them start plotting their escape from dad’s clutches. On their 18th birthday: Aunt Linda gladly takes them into her place, and hides them from daddy wonderful now that they are 18. Her late husband’s family take the car and hide it so that he doesn’t know where the children – now adults – are.
Aunt Linda helps the twins finish high school, and make their last summer before college be the best it can be. That’s when a vortex opens and suddenly, the twins are sucked into a whimsical world that Amanda remembers from one of the cartoons of her childhood.
