Refining The Magic Horsey

Luke (left) and Amanda (right) standing in front of a whimsical castle while discussing their next steps

Having slept on it overnight, I’ve came up with some ideas.

Some Basic Ideas

  • The siblings are twins Amanda and Luke
  • Luke is autistic (like me) and Amanda tends to him as needed
  • They just turned 18 as part of their senior year in high school
  • They were planning on going to college together, getting away from the rough life they had growing up

Growing Up in a Rough Childhood

  • Dad was very controlling, and decided that Luke’s disabilities made him a burden
  • During their Freshman year of High School, Amanda took it upon herself to tend to Luke’s special needs
  • They eventually found shelter – as soon as they turned 18 – with their aunt (dad’s sister) who absolutely hated the way Luke was treated
  • It was the Aunt Linda who helped their plans to go to college far away from jerk daddy
  • That gets swept away when The Vortex (maybe a better name for it?) sweeps them into this whimsical world that needs protecting

The Whimsical World

  • The world is that of Amanda’s favorite childhood cartoon, except the two of them are now charged with protecting it from the evil forces that seek to destroy everything
  • Amanda’s favorite character, the one stuffed animal she loved all her life (and managed to save during their 18th birthday escape), was what as a child she would call The Magic Horsey: a unicorn that transported the main character of the cartoon to wherever it was needed
  • Now, The Magic Horsey belonged to Amanda and no one was allowed to ride her except Amanda, Luke, or someone who had their express permission
