Spencer’s New Lifelong Disability

By now it was clear that Spencer’s foot wasn’t healing.  As usual, Kimmie went with him to his doctor’s appointment and the x-ray confirmed: his bones were not progressing the way they should.

Kimmie started sobbing as Spencer’s doctor delivered the news: Spencer might never walk again, and if he did, it would be extremely painful.

Kimmie pulled him into a hug and he sobbed, “I need Steffie.  I need my sister, now!”  Spencer started sobbing heavily now.  He was surprised as those words came out of his mouth, but he stuck to it.  He repeated through sobs, “I really need Steffie.”
